You may have seen in a few of my other blogs that we recent held a quiz night in aid of supporting local community groups interested in creating wildlife spaces. This could be anything from small containers to larger garden plots that they are interesting in converting into spaces specifically catered to allowing local wildlife to make it their home.
Alison came up with the idea of running a quiz night to raise funds in a way that can be informative and raise funds but also be an enjoyable night for all involved. Currently my fellow members of Friends of the Earth and myself are campaigning for the National Bee Cause Campaign. The quiz, unfortunately for anybody reading this that couldn’t attend was a very good night with around 20 people attending and making it a highly competitive evening with the winning team only coming out on top by a single point.Due to the cause of the evening a round was included dedicated to the environment which unfortunately did not score quite as highly as we would like but it was a learning exercise.
Overall, it was a fantastic evening with attendees from Chester World Development Movement, Chester Little Theatre, Chester Walking Group and supporters of Friends of the Earth.
To coincide with the quiz we also ran a raffle which raised over £137 which is a great start to our fundraising this summer.
Due to the overall success of the night we have had lots of requests to organise more quiz nights throughout the year and in response to this we may look to arrange another one around Christmas time so watch this space. If anyone would like to be added to our mailing list and find out about future events please join our mailing list here.
I wants to pay a special thanks to Alison Knott for putting a lot of hard work into the organising of
the quiz as well as being the question master on the night.
Great work everybody and thank you to all who did attend for making the evening a huge success.
